"Galaxies by the Millions" Fact Sheet

The Roman Space Telescope outreach team at STScI created a series of one-page fact sheets for astronomers with the goal of informing the broader astronomy community of the important science enable by Roman. The fact sheets are linked below. Notice that each fact sheet contains distinct sections which highlight specific research areas or topics.

• "Cosmology with Roman" 

Our next fact sheet, Galaxies by the Millions, will focus on Roman’s potential contributions to our understanding of the structure, composition, interactions, and evolution of galaxies outside the Milky Way. Our goal is to ensure that this fact sheet includes information that an expert on Roman’s capabilities with respect to galaxy survey science would expect to find, and that a galaxy researcher wondering what Roman has to offer would hope to find. Given the nature of galaxy survey science and the planned Roman surveys, there is likely to be overlap in material from the existing fact sheets on stars and cosmology. The sections for this fact sheet should highlight the potential research areas related to galaxies.

We welcome your input on the important science topics for the sections of this fact sheet, as well as compelling images to accompany those sections. Please submit your responses by Monday MARCH 22, 2021 5pm PT.
