Travel

If you’re flying to Baltimore, there are several options for airports:.

  • BWI: Strongly recommended.  A Lyft/Uber is ~$40, and the light rail ($2 each way) gets to within a couple miles of STScI.  However, the light rail is currently being repaired, so we will update if repairs aren’t complete at the time of the conference.
  • Philadelphia: Can take subway to Northeast Corridor ($40, 2 hours).  Buses from downtown Philadelphia drop off ~5 miles away from STScI.
  • Reagan: Multiple train options, MARC is by far the cheapest ($15, 2 hours).
  • Dulles: Not recommended.  No mass transit, and the drive can be 2-4 hours.

You can also get to Baltimore by train.  The Baltimore Penn Station and Camden Yards are the two major stations in the city, and both are within a few miles of STScI.  The MARC train, light rail, and city buses are on the Transit app.

For driving directions in Baltimore and information about parking at STScI, please visit the STScI “Getting Here” page. For details on how to arrive at STScI, please visit our "Getting Here" page.
