Pre-registration Process

Due to the impressive amount of interest shown, we anticipate that the conference will be over-subscribed. Due to space limitations at STScI, we will only be able to accept ~150 attendees.

As such, we did not think it fair to open a traditional registration for the meeting on a first-come, first-served basis. Rather, following in the footsteps of the .Astronomy X Conference that took place at STScI in September 2018, we will hold registration in two phases: pre-registration followed by formal registration that is open to only accepted attendees.

Pre-registration is mandatory for attendance.

The pre-registration form serves as an application to register to attend the conference. If selected, you will receive a formal invitation to register.

Attendee Selection

The Inclusive Astronomy 2 Conference is by and for the entire astronomy community - especially those community members who have historically been minoritized and underrepresented in the field and the world at large. As such, it is the top priority of the organizing committees to intentionally construct a cohort that serves the goals of the meeting and represents a diversity of experience, level of seniority, geographic region, gender identity, race and ethnicity, sexual orientation, and ability and/or neurodiverse status.

Firstly, all presenters - that is, applicants who submit an abstract that is accepted by the Science Organizing Committee - will be extended invitations to attend.

To select the remaining attendees, we will use the Entrofy algorithm to randomly select a subsection from the applicant pool such that a range of demographics are adequately represented. We invite you to read more about the Entrofy algorithm here: https://github.com/dhuppenkothen/entrofy

At their discretion, the LOC will also take into account any additional information provided by applicants.

Registration Fees

There will be a registration fee to attend IA2. Though the budget is still being finalized, we do not expect the registration fee to exceed $200. Accepted attendees will not be asked to pay the registration fee until after August 16.
