What's this about?

MAST has been operating since the 1990s; a great deal of our hardware and software is running on legacy services. As the size of our datasets grows, it's become necessary to transition to more modern infrastructure that betters serves the needs of our users. However, many users have grown accustomed to our existing tools. These guides are written with those users in mind and are intended to make the transition as painless as possible.

A note: Migrating Search Forms

As legacy search forms are updated and superseded by the multi-mission MAST Search,  new guides are added to this chapter. These guides are intended as 1:1 comparisons of common workflows, to make transitioning to the new forms as seamless as possible. The inclusion of a legacy search form in this guide does not necessarily indicate that it will be imminently retired; it may merely indicate that a newer, improved search is now available for use.
